Skiing with Friends

Uncle Dave taking a lunch
break at Kirkwood Ski Resort.
As we were taking a lunch
break we watched a fleet of 8
snowcats making their way
down the mountain.
The day after the storms broke
we had beautiful weather with
puffy white clouds and a
brilliant blue sky.   It does not
get better than this.
This year we returned to
Heavenly Ski Resort at
South Lake Tahoe for our
annual ski trip.   It straddles
the Nevada-California
border.   We spent a night
with our friends Steve and
Robin Ching who have a
vacation home in South
Lake Tahoe.  Amy has know
Steve and Robin since
college when she and
Robin were roommates.
We then checked into the
Marriott Timberlodge
where we have a two
bedroom timeshare that
we book for the last week
of February each year.

Lake Tahoe is the highest
lake of its size in the United
States and the largest
alpine lake in North
America. Heavenly, which
is one of our favorite ski
areas is the largest ski
resort in the USA.
Amy’s uncle Dave Lung
and our friend Tom Rigsby
who is a pilot for Hawaiian
Airlines joined us for the
week.  As it turns out we
picked the perfect week.
On the weekend that we
arrived several storms
brought in almost 6 feet of
fresh powder.  It snowed
so hard that we had to give
up a couple days of skiing.
However, we ended up
with 5 days of great skiing.

During one of our off days
we spent a little time at the
casinos where Tom hit a
nice sized jackpot.  On this
trip we all came away
winners.
